Chris Blechschmidt is the Senior Managing Director of Mortgage Banking and Office Leader of Berkadia’s Chicago Office. In addition to his leadership role in the Chicago office, Chris has extensive knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and numerous Life Company programs having closed in excess of $6 billion in transactions.
Chris is responsible for the origination of debt (construction, bridge, and permanent loans) and equity financing. Chris has specialized in the underwriting and financing of multifamily and mixed use assets across the country with larger owners who invest nationally.
Chris has been with Berkadia and its predecessor companies for over 30 years and is a graduate of the University of Chicago and holds an MBA with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting. He also holds a BS in Finance and Marketing from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Chris is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Mortgage Bankers Association and Urban Land Institute.
