Peter Benedetto is a Senior Managing Director for Berkadia Student Housing Mortgage Banking with responsibilities in loan origination and management of Berkadia Detroit. Peter has consistently ranked as one of Berkadia’s top 10 mortgage originators every year since 2013. With over 20 years of mortgage banking experience, Peter has been with Berkadia and its predecessor companies since 1999. Since that time, he has been responsible for debt placement in over 450 transactions approaching $8 billion nationally.
Peter has experience in multiple product types, with over 35 different lenders, including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, life insurance companies, CMBS, pension funds, and banks. Peter has specialized in student housing for over 15 years and has financed over 40,000 beds at more than 40 campuses with over a dozen different lenders. He has closed transactions on behalf of pension funds and REITs, as well as private investors in the student sector.
Peter is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He is a licensed Michigan real estate broker and holds a CPA license (inactive). He has spoken on numerous panels as a member of the MBA, NMHC, and ICSC. Peter was recognized in the 2017 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame by Midwest Commercial Real Estate and in the top 10 on the 2018 Capital Markets Rainmakers list by Real Estate Forum, as well as with Fannie Mae.
