Walter Coker is a Senior Managing Director in the DC Metro office and co-leads the institutional sales team for Berkadia’s Mid-Atlantic region. Since 2015, his team has completed over $7 billion in investments sales encompassing over 23,000 units. Further, the team has capitalized development transactions for over 8,000 units and nearly $3 billion of total project costs, in addition to brokering over $600 million in land sales.
Walter was previously co-head of Investment Advisory and Equity Placement for JLL Multifamily Capital Markets in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to his time at JLL, Walter co-headed HFF’s Mid-Atlantic Multifamily Investment Sales team and before that, he was head of Cushman & Wakefield’s debt and equity group in Washington, DC. Throughout his career, Walter has executed over 200 sales and recapitalization transactions representing more than $15 billion of value and more than 40,000 units.
Walter grew up in Houston, TX and attended Washington & Lee University. He is actively involved in numerous industry organizations, as well as numerous charitable endeavors and currently serves as a board member of the Coker Foundation.
